Job Description

PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB POSITION

The van driver position is expected to work as a valued member of the facility driving the facility van. This job will primarily consist of local vehicle operations involving transporting elders to and from appointments, elder outings and other errands the supervisor requests. On occasion, the driver may have to travel out of the local region.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

Drives van to destination. 

 

Inspects van for defects before and after trips and reports any discrepancies indicating van condition to supervisor.

 

Maintain and protect all property in excellent condition.

 

Develop and maintain a good work rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.

 

Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department.

This position is occasionally performed in outside weather including extreme head and cold conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Must be able to life a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Must possess a driver’s license. 

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

High school diploma or GED.

 

1 or more year(s) experience as a van driver.

 

Clean driving record.
