Accounting Manager

AEG Petroleum LLC, based in Amarillo, TX, is a growing family owned and operated petroleum distributor. We are looking for a highly motivated Accounting Manager to join our Amarillo team and contribute to our continued success. Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager provides leadership and strategic oversight of the accounting function, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting and compliance. This role partners closely with executive leadership to support business strategy, financial planning, and operational decision-making.  The Accounting Manager leads a team responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, fuel billing and cardlock billing and reporting, while driving process improvements and strengthening internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fuel billing and inventory accounting

·         Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards

·         Maintain full ownership of the general ledger, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation of all transactions

·         Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including coordination with external auditors and regulatory requirements

·         Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies

·         Identify, design, and implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and efficiency enhancements

·         Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a high-performing and accountable team

·         Partner with executive leadership to provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support strategic initiatives and long-term planning

·         Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis as needed

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; or equivalent experience

·         Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or management role

·         Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger management, and internal control frameworks

·         Proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced Microsoft Excel skills

·         Proven ability to lead teams, manage deadlines, and drive process improvement

·         Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

·         High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
